Distributing School Supplies

This is OJATA Community Savings and Credit Group. In just their first season, they have had two successful tomato harvests, earning 127,000 UGX.
This success means each member can afford nutritious meals and everyday essentials, they can send their children to school. They can also start to create savings and plan for the future,

Yangi Bethy, our Community Health Nurse taught many classes on puberty and teen health. Here she is with students at Amazing Grace Primary School in Kerwa.
These lessons include teaching on menstruation, safe sex, and family planning. Later, these students can take part in ReUsable Menstrual Pad (RUMP) training, which improves menstrual hygeine and removes a big barrier from their education.

Harriet Aputus had an extremely successful tomato crop this year. This is her third harvest, which she sold for 30,000 UGX. She has saved 67,000 UGX.
The crop has also supported her family and friends diets. And, there are still more tomatoes to come!

Alongside her teaching in schools, Community Nurse, Yangi Bethy, also leads classes across the Kerwa and Wandi Sub-Counties of Yumbe district. Many people living here lack access to quality healthcare. Bethy teaches about preventative healthcare measures. She also distributes mosquito nets and mama kits to expectant mothers to minimise the negative impacts of inadequate healthcare access.
