Big Give 2023 – Update
CATT UPDATE
CATT (Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy) Counsellors continue their valuable work with child refugees, mainly from South Sudan, in rural Northern Uganda. Most of the young people helped in the last six months are working their way through difficulties brought on by child neglect, lack of basic needs, rape, defilement, dropping out of school, and suicide attempts.
The program conducted a highly successful community awareness day on PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and CATT, with good attendance and participation.
Counsellors travel large distances on bicycles to visit children at their homes. This year we have been able to send funds to have their bicycles repaired and give them their small remuneration for their time.
CRESS AFRICA has become widely recognised as a pioneering indigenous NGO, leading the way in trauma therapy in the West Nile region of Uganda. The program’s dedication and outstanding outcomes have elevated the reputation of the NGO positioning them as key players in addressing mental health issues in the communities.
Case Study
Our counsellors have been working with a 17 year old with PTSD following an assault and resulting pregancy.
“Thank you very much for helping me out of my stressful moments, I couldn’t believe that I would restore my lost hope. I am so happy to see my beautiful and adorable baby girl, Mercy... I can not thank you enough... let almighty God bless you more abundantly so as to help many children suffering like me’. I am a living testimony.”
