Update from Maggie Metcalfe
Team arrive safely in Entebbe
This week I was invited back to Broad Chalke Primary School for Hymn practice, a chance to tell the children about the forthcoming trip and also to thank them for their fantastic fund raising of £571.00!
Many of the children remembered meeting Fred Taban on his visit to school especially Class 5 where he had spent a morning when their teacher was Rebecca Eyres.
Mrs Eyres organised a fund raiser for Cress with a sponsored obstacle race at the end of term, and raised an amazing £370. This was to purchase balls, footballs, skipping ropes (and more) but because they had done so well were able to give Fred Taban £200 to feed his family as his crops had failed. The wonderful purchases made possible by Class 5 will go to a school in South Sudan where 1500 pupil attend and who have NO equipment to play with.
This is Louie who raised an amazing £80 alone!
Class 6, that has now left raised, £200 and some of this was used to buy a printer for the same school – Cress is also providing a laptop for the school so they can now keep a list of pupils!
A huge thank you for the amazing effort and support of Broad Chalke Primary School!
