BUILDING STRONGER FOR A BETTER FUTURE | Supporting Education in Refugee Communities – Rhino Camp and Imvepi Refugee Settlements
Between 13–14 August 2026, CRESS Africa Foundation distributed essential scholastic materials to 20 refugee primary schools and Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres across Imvepi and Rhino Camp Refugee Settlements.
The intervention reached 17,138 children with 200 boxes of school chalk and 20 boxes of BIC red pens, helping teachers continue classroom instruction and assessment despite significant funding and resource challenges.
For many schools, these materials are more than stationery—they are tools of hope. With the withdrawal of several education partners, schools are facing shortages of learning materials, fewer teachers, reduced enrolment, and limited support for ECD feeding programmes. Our intervention is helping bridge one of these critical gaps.
One head teacher shared that the support has brought “hope, encouragement and renewed motivation” to the community school.
At CRESS Africa Foundation, we believe education should not stop because a child is a refugee. Through our integrated approach to Education and Discipleship, we are working alongside schools, teachers, volunteers and communities to nurture children academically, morally and spiritually.
However, the needs remain significant. Schools still require chalk, books, pens, registers, blackboards, teaching materials, teacher support and ECD feeding programmes.
