BUSINESS STORY - SEMERITA ULI
Semerita Uli, a 52-year-old member of the God's Plan Community Savings and Credit Group (CSCG) in Imvepi, has significantly improved her family's livelihood through the knowledge and opportunities gained from the group. Before joining the CSCG, financial hardships made it difficult for her to meet her family's basic needs.
Through training in Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), financial literacy, and the CSCG methodology, Semerita gained valuable skills in saving, responsible borrowing, financial management, and identifying income-generating opportunities. She later borrowed UGX 500,000 from the group's savings fund and invested it in a produce business at Imvepi Point J Market, where her business steadily expanded.
Today, the income from her produce business enables Semerita to provide food for her family, provide school requirements, access healthcare, and meet other household needs. She continues to save with the CSCG and serves as a role model in her community.
