Members of the Mercy Community Savings and Credit Groups (CSCGs) in Mijale have planted vegetable seeds in a nursery bed in preparation for the upcoming dry season, when vegetables are expected to be scarce on the market.

Mary Tabu, a member of Ngun Kata CSCG, has bought 100 chickens with investment from the savings groups. She will rear the chickens for eggs and meat to sell as a new source of income.

Martha Uma, a member of Ngun kata CSCG Rhino Camp, saved 350,000 UGX (around £70) and bought herself a sewing machine to start a business as she accomplished her savings goal.

Poni Jane is a member of Faith CSCG. She has received a mango sapling that she has fenced to protect it from wildlife and pests. In a few years, she will be able to sell the fruit of this tree.

This is Rose Modong, 31 years old and a member of Unity CSCG in Imvepi Refugee Settlement. She is growing vegetables, which provides food for her family and income to meet other basic needs.

This is Hope United CSCG received training in compost management to improve the quality of their soil. They have dug pits 40 cm deep and 2msq and are preparing the nursery beds.
