Pajitoto Community Savings and Credit Group (CSCG) in Mijale has started harvesting its Sukuma Wiki (kale). Today they harvested 5 basins of leaves equivalent of 60 bundles each bundle selling at 500 UGX. The total amount of money for today’s sale will be 30,000 UGX (~$9). They are grateful for the support from CRESS.

Tiyi Morjita CSCG were trained on making plant tea manure. They mixed and applied it in their sukuma wiki garden. They also took seedlings to their individual gardens.

Emmanuel Alafi, lead farmer CSCG Eden 6, has planted 238 tomatoes plants in 18 beds currently at flowering and fruiting stage. He also has planted 119 green pepper plants in 2 beds now at the flowering stage.

Meet Sunday Mary, a lead farmer from Pamungu CSCG in Mijale. Recently, she has faced the challenge of inconsistent rains and little water for irrigation which caused the loss of 7 plants. However, with the recent rains, the plants are doing well and are about to ripen. She is grateful for the support and uses her learned skills to train 29 others in her group.
