Past Student Update 2022
On 20th October the last RUMPs (ReUsable Menstrual Pads) training session for this year began in Kilaji. Kilaji is a small settlement very close to the border with South Sudan and 6km west of the clinic in Mijale.
The 100 women and girls gathered together to learn this liberating skill from Cicilia and the team for four days.
In the photo you can see them sewing their RUMPs, which are made from material that can be resourced locally.
The group were given new underwear, soap too.
The aims of the training were to:
- Give a group of 14 to 49 year women knowledge of RUMPs and how to use them properly
- Prevent School girls drop out
- Improve the economic and financial status of women and girls
- Have a friendly environment during periods and be able to go to social places without fear of exposed bleeding from menstruation.
The comments from participants were very positive, one extra request was for support to be able to make soap for themselves. We always encourage feedback and will look into the details.
