Thanks to a legacy donation towards CRESS's education sponsorship project, Charles Loku has secured a place at Busitma University for Medicine and Surgery in Uganda.
Scopas Murye the Education Sponsorship Officer explained:
Charles is very clever and got excellent results in Senior 6, his father has no income and works for the Diocese of Liwolo. The CRESS AFRICA team were keen for Charles to find sponsorship to help his family in the future but also to ensure this very able young man got the tertiary education he needed to achieve his potential and unfortunately his previous sponsor was not able to continue sponsorship through university.
Charles says
Charles also wrote to the family who provided the legacy saying:
"I may not have the exact words but to start with I want to thank God for the gift of you two.
Actually early this year the results for the National Advanced Certificate of Education were released and with God's faithfulness and His grace I had passed well. Surely according to the results, I could get admitted to any university within Uganda without fail but of course, the major question was who was going to pay for tuition? I thought it was the end of my childhood dream to become a doctor, not only a doctor but one of the greatest in my country. Your support, I must tell you, goes a long way and I will never ever forget you.
I met Scopas today and he shared with me about you and the opportunity that you people have offered me to pursue my bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery.
I must tell you that I am extremely excited to partake in this career and save as many lives as I possibly can within my power. "
