Women’s Enterprise Day is truly inspiring!
A busy Sunday in South Sudan
Today was the fifth Cress Family Day, and what an exciting day it was. We arrived, after a short but bumpy ride, at a school to be met by lots of children dancing and singing to welcome us. Caroline was escorted into the hall by the children. We then had some wonderful singing and speeches of welcome and thanks by them to Caroline and to all the sponsors of the children. Caroline then greeted each family and gave the sponsored children their gifts from their UK sponsors. They then came outside to have their photograph taken by Rachel. We will distribute these to the sponsors once we are back home.
This was followed by lunch for everyone, which was for about 120 people, which had been cooked on open fires in the bush. Remarkable. It was a great joy to see the children opening their gifts from their sponsors, it was like Christmas!. They then played with their gifts, and the team joined in with bubbles, footballs and frisbees. Adrian amazed us all with the skill of making ballon dogs, a few of the children picked this up as well.
Maggie had a session with some of the wives which was a special opportunity for them discuss some health issues and enjoy spending some time in each others’ company.
This was the fifth anniversary party for the Cress family, a very special and enjoyable day was had by all.
