Training Workshop for CPFs

Big Give 2025

A total of 2,610 fruit trees comprising of grafted mango, orange, and guava were delivered to Rhino Camp, Imvepi, and Mijale last month. These were distributed to 870 Community Savings and Credit Groups (CSCG) members. Each beneficiary received 3 seedlings (1 mango, 1 orange, 1 guava) to promote household nutrition, diversify income, and strengthen climate resilience.
Under CRESS Africa Foundation’s (CAF) Self‑Reliance and Resilience efforts with CSCGs, perennial fruit trees are a strategic livelihood input that:
- Provide nutritious fruit for household consumption and reduce food expenditure,
- Create surplus for sale, supporting savings, loan repayment, and micro‑enterprise,
- Enhance climate resilience via tree cover, soil moisture retention, and diversified income.
Fruit trees success story
“My name is Amule James, a member of Morjita CSCG in Mijale.
In 2020, I received three fruit tree seedlings (jackfruit, mango, and orange) from CRESS UK. Last year, I began harvesting from the mango tree, and it has brought great joy to me and my household.
I am deeply grateful to CRESS UK and the CRESS Africa Foundation for their support. I hope that others can also benefit as I have”
