Food rations cease July 2023
Stories from the Clinic
CRESS supports a team of 8 CATT (Children's Accelerated Trauma Therapy) Counsellors who work with children and young people who have suffered trauma in their lives as refugees in Northern Uganda.
Who we help
Most of the young people helped in the last six months are working their way through difficulties brought on by child neglect, lack of basic needs, rape, defilement, dropping out of school and suicide attempts.
In the picture is Canon Charles, one of the counsellors, with a small child who he is helping to detraumatise.
The CATT team also provide group sessions in various locations educating people on emotional health.
Transport Repairs
Since January the team have received donations from CRESS fundraisers and grants to repair their bicycles and the motorbike which helps Gale Scopas, the CATT Co-ordinator, to visit the counsellors, collect their data and give them their small remuneration for their time.
Laptop grant
The CATT laptop is also now old, and we are thankful to have just received a grant so that a new one can be purchased for Beatrice to keep records on and send us updates and reports in the future.
WHAT NEXT
We are writing grant applications for 2024, but have no funding yet.
The team have run out of biscuits which help the children concentrate. Many children have little food now refugee rations have been stopped for all people able to work, so often just eat one meal a day.
The team also request new CATT T-shirts and play equipment for the children.
So...
If you can run a fund-raising event for us that could go to CATT funds that would be amazing!
From a summer cream tea, to a sponsored walk or garden concert, whatever you enjoy!
We have fund-raising information here. Or get in touch for more information.
