Update from Caroline – Friday 13 January
Hello everyone from Entebbe!
Here I am in this lovely place with the temperature late 20s and wall to wall sun but not too hot – even last night with a power cut in the guest house it was not too hot and there were no mosquitoes.
I had as good a flight as any one can have on such a long journey – checking in at Heathrow Terminal 2 at 5.00am for a 06.50am departure to Brussels – that was fine but too early! Brussels airport is HUGE and I had to walk miles and miles and then get on a bus as they put all the African flights on one of those satellite places miles away!! Why? Anyway, a full plane took me smoothly to Entebbe arriving at 6pm UK time but 9pm Entebbe time.
A warm welcome
I was met by Fred, Sunday and his daughter Gladys – all looking well and beautifully dressed. After the usual African wait, we made our way to the Airport Guesthouse – managing to get rooms this time (often we cannot). It is very reasonably priced, a good local place to stay and very peaceful.
There seemed to be no Gorilla Tours people staying (they usually fill the place and have first refusal ) just ourselves, a Canadian missionary and her young family (she works in Gulu so we swapped details about the Hygiene Kit training) and another American missionary couple (one can always spot them!)
Today was made up of lots of talking on every possible cress topic as well as news from Chalke Valley – then for me some swimming in the pool and a bit of reading
Tomorrow up at 5.45am for Patrick to take us to the airstrip to fly MAF from Kajjanski to Moyo – meeting Joseph there. I hope we can then go and meet David Amoli in Moyo town as I have not seen him for ages and ages. Then it will depend on what the internet is like in KK – Joseph has done a good programme for me! But it will be hot hot !!
Thank you for your interest and love and prayers. I have attached some photos of Fred enjoying the newspaper and Coca Cola and the Huddle given to him by Wellspring members.
Also, finally today 7 of Fred’s bags from his stay in the UK were collected to go to Liverpool where they will fly out to Entebbe and meet us next week!!!! He says he will then give most of the contents away!!
