We want to say a HUGE thank you to our partner Action for Child Trauma International (ACT International) for supporting the Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy (CATT) project in Uganda and let you know a little more about them.
ACT International provides communities with the tools and training needed to treat children suffering from the symptoms of psychological trauma. They focus on local people and NGO staff, giving them the skills to provide child-led, culturally appropriate but evidence-based treatment, and to train others to do so. Their programmes change children’s lives, giving them and their families a fresh start for a brighter future. The method used is known as the Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy (CATT) training protocol. In 2019 ACT International provided two Ugandan accredited CATT trainers to deliver the training and provide ongoing supervision/refresher training while CRESS developed a system of peer group support for our trained CATT counsellors.
They have just sent us their Annual Report to share with you, describing their work with us on page 8.
I want to take this opportunity to say how fantastic it is to be working with you in northern Uganda, and how much we value our partnership with you. I hope this will continue in 2021 and definitely once this terrible pandemic has finally passed, and we can all travel safely once again.Warm wishes and thanks again for your supportStella Charman, Chair of Trustees of ACT International
