Sending farmers to Northern Uganda
The difference solar power can make!
We have received an email from Tom Clarke who finished his stage of the tour de France – this is what he says:
I am half way back in France. Ste and I are staying in champagne for some r and r. The soft beds are a contrast to the sofa that we had to stay on in the Alps. We had 35 degree heat and 6000 competitors did not complete the challenge. 9500 did of which we were both there which was great. I finished in 8,15 which was 3600th which I was pleased about. Having never climbed a mountain before it was a real first eye opener.
Tom raised £6,700 – this was a complete surprise and we are delighted – these funds are being used to pay for Joseph to stay in Kampala and study, pay the Lab technician’s salary for a year in the clinic, and some money for the celebrations for the opening of the clinic!! The clinic opening will be a major event for everyone who will get to eat meat and drink a fizzy drink – something that almost never happens in their lives – perhaps equivalent to us having a holiday!
