Evaline Poni has this year started studying for a Diploma in ‘Home Economics and Community Nutrition’ at Bukalasa Agricultural School. She will graduate in 2024. She says:
I greatly thank God for the wonderful blessings given to me through the work of CRESS. They have contributed to the beginning of my success and achievement and I am looking forward to having bigger dreams, with the help of CRESS, through the education am pursuing. The quality of a person’s life will be determined by the depth of their commitment and excellence no matter what their chosen field is. I love my profession of being a nutritionist because I can identify malnourish client, how to manage them, the kind of foods to be eaten, giving counselling/nutritional education, all this gave me a clear motivation and interest upon my profession.
I believe through the education am pursuing, with the support from CRESS, I will prove some people wrong because of the negative thoughts they think about me. In my country, it’s believed that girls are a source of income, educating girls in my country is seen as a waste of money. Through the knowledge that I am getting, I will in the future help children and encourage others to follow my footsteps with or without the support I have received.
Looking at the current situation of Coronavirus outbreak that has become pandemic, it’s at this point that my services are needed most. How I wish I had completed studies, I can’t wait to help my people in South Sudan and other places. Am indeed very proud to be one of the beneficiaries of CRESS and through them, I will become one of the best nutritionists in South Sudan and the first of its kind. Oh my God, I can’t stop thanking CRESS.
