CRESS Christmas Cards
The finance team in Arua always work incredibly hard, sorting and accounting the money for CRESS-funded projects, payroll for the staff in Arua, and the clinic in Mijale and liaising with each department and working with the auditor and Ugandan government regulations.
They work in Ugandan Shillings UGX and US Dollars USD and have accounts for each.
Their work is mostly cash-based which adds another layer of complexity to their job.
This year began with Wendy Fry - a Chartered accountant and CMS mission associate, visiting the CRESS/DOL and clinic accounts departments and working with them on new spreadsheets to manage their accounts and cash.
This work also needed to be continued and expanded onto the online system - Xero which we also use in the UK.
In Xero the team worked together with Naomi, who does our bookkeeping, on Zoom to rationalise and recreate a new system for labelling income and expenses so that it is clearer to see where funds have come from and been spent.
Alan our Accountant here in the UK has been overseeing the project and is pleased with the improvements made and the reports that are being produced.
In recognition of all their work and their commitment CRESS UK sent out money for a celebration to thank the team.
Moses, Irene and Isaac each received a flask for keeping hot water in during the day and they enjoyed a celebratory meal together at the office with other staff members.
Thank you all so much for your work and dedication - we couldn't do it without you!
