Annual fundraiser raises £1,000
The Evangelical Alliance share their fundraising experience
Today, Friday 15th May I went to meet Anne Johns and Jenny Head who have written a book about the history of the teacher training college in the Cathedral close.
Anne and Jenny comment:
“At the beginning of our research into the history of Salisbury Teacher Training College/The College of Sarum St Michael we heard Caroline Lamb speak passionately about Cress. We knew immediately that this was a charity we wished to support. We were confident that full use would be made of all donations.
Our College, founded by the Church of England in 1841, was based on the principle of teaching with a firm Christian ethos. Over the 137 years of the College’s life, many students chose to work as teaching missionaries in different parts of the world.
In using the profit from our book to support Cress, we are enabling the purpose for which the College was founded to live on. Education provides hope for the future and we are delighted to support the magnificent work that this Christian charity is doing in South Sudan.”
The money raised through book sales shall be used to support Francis Candiga a Sunday School Teacher in South Sudan with furthering his studies.
This is what Francis emailed following the news that he was to be sponsored: I don’t have word to say right now, i am almost bursting with happiness, what I can only say is that I serve an amazing God who listen to prayers. this is indeed a miracle. I don’t know what to say but Praise be to the living God. Amen Amen Amen!!!!!
The money will also purchase two laptops for two different schools for the use of the school head teachers.
A gift that will truly make a huge difference and for which we can’t thank Jenny and Anne enough!
