Prayers for Coronavirus in Uganda

Your Prayers for Holy Week

Dear Prayer Team,

Please, in amongst the many concerns we have here at home spare a thought for the CRESS funded clinic, DoL staff, their families, friends, colleagues and those working to support them here in the UK.

As you have probably heard, COVID 19 is affecting Africa too. Just a little food for thought and
perspective:

  • In Uganda the airports and borders have already been closed since the 22nd of March. The Schools have also closed and many of the UK Embassy staff have been returned home.
  • A lockdown has now been put in place for 2 weeks.
  • For a Ugandan population of 42 million there are 55 intensive care beds.
  • If you are in a refugee camp or a large family living in a hut, self-distancing is not an option.
  • The UN is short of food stocks so the food given to refugees monthly is being reduced

As we approach Holy Week, can I propose we find a moment during this special time in our year, to pray for all those associated with CRESS. The good work(!), which we are so thankful for, that continues to be done through CRESS to save lives, educate the young, to build futures and above all this week the common Hope we share in the one Faith that knows no boundaries.

So, I ask you to join me and other members of the CRESS Family as we light a candle each evening during Holy Week to pause and reflect for just a minute or two or more…
