Jehovah Rapha Clinic in Mijale
The first Mijale Clinic was a simple 4-room building with no maternity facilities, just 3km south of the border. After being forced to leave their homes and previous clinic, the dedicated staff team were determined to use their skills to support their displaced community in northern Uganda.
Over 1 million South Sudanese fled into the bush area surrounding the Ugandan border arriving in desperate need. Many were women and children who were traumatised by their experiences and what they had seem. CRESS’s new clinic was there as a lifeline to provide affordable healthcare and treatment, with patients paying small fees as and when they could. This was the only medical clinic with a regular, reliable supply of medicines and caring practitioners. The clinic was extremely well regarded by its patients and by the local government.
