Education Update
New ovens have been purchased for the DOL office in Arua and the clinic in Mijale. These ovens will be used to cook food for staff at both locations.
Viola Poni is one of the CRESS students undertaking work experience with CRESS. She studied Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and has since been working with agriculture and clinic teams on diet and nutrition.
She says
“The ovens purchased are of good quality and the office cook Rina is using it well, especially the wonder bag, she uses it for cooking leafy vegetables to prevent overcooking and add too much oil in the food.
The makaaa stove is in use. The one for the clinic is not yet delivered due to mechanical conditions of the vehicles, the oven and the wonder bag will be delivered as soon as the vehicle is on road.
The baking oven is in good use, we bake bread for breakfast sometimes and it is really of great importance to the office. This baked food has little calories and oils in it, this caters for the staff with special dietary needs.”
Bread baking will offer a really lucrative source of income generation for the clinic and the Aura office. Bread is always saleable in the towns where they are based.
