Food consumption gaps widen in South Sudan
220 children ready to get involved with CRESS in South Sudan
Last week starting Monday 11th April was an incredibly busy and exciting week for CRESS. Fred Taban was staying here with me at my home and we used the week to meet as many people as we could. Here is all the news:
Monday
Prayer meeting and then preparing a joint talk with Fred.
Tuesday
In the morning Fred spoke at Wellspring – the “birth place of CRESS”. After lunch he took the stage again and spoke in Tisbury at St Andrew’s Chapel where around 15 people listened and asked him many questions. There was a really good atmosphere, and the talk was enjoyed by everyone.
Fred’s confidence has increased a huge amount since he has been in the UK and he has become quite the proficient speaker!
Wednesday
Fred and I enjoyed assembly at Broad Chalke School and showed the children what Fred’s home life using PowerPoint. The children listened spellbound at such an educated person who lives in such poverty at home.
In the afternoon we met Lizzie from We See Hope at Boston Tea Party and she shared some tips on growing a charity. A woman in the café overhears our conversation and comes up afterwards to say she is a Trustee of a charity and we should apply for a grant!
Thursday
Off we went to the visit the Send a Cow UK offices which are just outside Bath, as always they were extremely helpful. Fred is going to spend some days in the office and the Send A Cow team in Uganda will visit the CRESS team in South Sudan to advise them on the rolling out of the agriculture programme.
After a busy day we enjoyed supper at Broad Chalke Village Hall, a lovely shared meal when Fred once again spoke and shared photos of his home life It was an moving evening for all.
Friday
Ian Woodward Head of Salisbury Sudan’s Link came to see Fred and in the afternoon Richard Parry, Senior Partner with Farrer & Co joined us to talk grants from his trust!
Saturday
No rest with a supporters morning and 15 came along to pray, share and stuff envelopes. A great chance to bounce ideas around and lots of topics were covered.
What a busy week, lots of opportunities, some grants to apply for and over £2,000 raised for Fred and family! Thank you to everyone who made last week all that it was and for showing your support.
