Educational sponsorship making a difference
A long session today with Sophie working on the wages for our ten CRESS staff and looking at whether we have enough regular money coming in to cover these going forward. We realise that we need another 2/3 sponsors for the clinic staff but otherwise we are covered, just.
I am now trying to find a nice retired accountant who could help and become our Business Manager, this role is now very important with CRESS running an office and staff in South Sudan! After CRESS business I can continue with what I really enjoy which is telling the stories and meeting people!
Golda Poni’s sponsors head out for her graduation
This afternoon Peter and Disie Rushforth came to see me as they are going out for Golda Poni’s graduation next week. Disie was Golda’s sponsor through her university years and Golda is very touched that they are coming out. Golda has been at the Uganda Christian University in Mukono doing a degree in Business Management and after her graduation she starts working full time for CRESS in South Sudan!!
Golda will be looking after the Women’s Enterprise and Farmer’s Training groups. She is also going to meet each of the 14 Comboni Students to look with them at how they are doing and then to put some strategies in place to help those struggling.
I had such a lovely letter from Daniel Batatis, he comes from the Nuba mountains and is leaving at the end of this term. He says that every Saturday night the CRESS students get together to study the bible and pray together. It is lovely that they see themselves as a community and support one another; as you can imagine I am delighted!
