An overnight stay in Moyo
A day of rest for Adrian and Andrew
Saturday 1st July 2017
We’ve had no internet all day and it’s just come back on at 6.30pm so here are a few lines to tell you about our day.
This morning after breakfast, we asked the hotel staff if we could use a restaurant table and the three of us sat there for the whole morning and chatted with Fred allowing him time and space to talk about the situation he and the refugees are up against. This is really useful first hand information as it will enable Caroline and the UK trustees to understand the priorities better.
Around lunchtime, Andrew and Adrian walked to local shopping mall through thick swarms of Entebbe flies, which was horrid. We spent a while browsing a local market and then exchanged some money for local currency and made our way back to the hotel.
Later in the afternoon, Fred’s son Sunday Taban arrived from Kampala to see his dad and to let us know that he is well on the way to being licensed as a lawyer in Uganda. He is currently unable to work as he has refugee status. It was good to see him as he has come through CRESS’s sponsorship programme.
Finally, it was time to start on the report, and write this Blog before finding an evening meal.
