Bishop of Liwolo, Joseph Aba
CRESS agriculture programme must restart
We have heard from Fred regarding the new clinic who reports that it’s still tricky to give a definitive date for the opening as work on the premises is on going. Yesterday Fred had a meeting with the Yumbe District Health Authority to discuss the attainment of a government operating license, which grants the clinic legal status for its activities (Uganda is an organised country).
After this meeting and prior to granting a license, the authorities will have to inspect both the premises and the CVs of the workers to ascertain if they have the required minimum training to carry out health work. We hope to hear from Fred soon.
The clinic is located in Mijale about 15km south of Liwolo and will provide health care to refugees. The equipment rescued from the Liwolo Clinic is in storage and will be put to good use once the new clinic is opened and medicines will be available thanks to the kind and generous donation of Pauline Cullis and her annual sale.
Fred has also reported that the Liwolo Clinic building remains in good order.
